Groundswell Community Justice Trust Fund
A community trust formed in 2011, Groundswell Community Justice Trust Fund began as a way to talk about funding social movements, while building a capital base to benefit social justice organizing over the long term.
The ultimate goal of Groundswell is to generate more cash flowing for transformative social change and take a practical approach to building a better future. Groundswell fuels grassroots social movements that cannot secure adequate funding from other sources, with the goal of supporting organizing that confronts the root causes of oppression; that actively confronts power imbalances and seeks to build community power, and increases organizational infrastructure, allowing groups to do their work with impact on a long-term basis.
Dr. Bronner’s Canada has contributed funding to the Groundswell Community Justice Trust Fund to support the expansion of their annual grants program, as well as the “Growing Change” program that will be dispersing larger grants in periodically to help support their efforts to grow social movements to become independent and resourceful.
