Bar Soap Travel Hacks

Packing light is a skill many wish to master. Afterall, it can save money on additional luggage costs, cut down on wastage, and make room in suitcases for souvenirs and keepsakes. Whilst there are many packing techniques for clothes to cut down space, chunkier toiletries that come in plastic are harder to condense, and miniature travel bottles can be incredibly expensive!

Lisa Bronner details her savvy toiletry packing secrets, revealing that the ultimate way to reduce cosmetic luggage is with one product: A simple bar soap

Lisa saysWhether you champion the bar soap because of cost, packaging, travel convenience or availability, you can use the bar soap for almost every purpose as a traditional liquid soap, and more! One ever-growing list I have is for the many “off-label” uses for Dr. Bronner’s products. My list for the Pure-Castile Bar soap has reached a critical mass that I felt it ripe to share with you.”

Providing natural, organic and multiuse products, Dr. Bronner’s soaps are gentle enough for all the family, including pets and little ones. Versatility is a hallmark of Dr. Bronner’s products, with the labels stating “18-in-1” right up front, but really all the products are multifunctional. And even 18 is a low ball of the soaps uses!

Here are 3 travel friendly things you can do with a Dr. Bronner’s Bar Soap

Wash: Ok this sounds obvious, but when you realise just HOW many things you can wash with a Dr. Bronner’s bar soap you will be surprised! Aside from the obvious hands, face and body, you can use the bar soap as a, shampoo bar, shaving cream, or go even further and use as a laundry wash and dish wash, making stops in airports or self-catered holidays a piece of cake!

Suggested Scent – You can’t go wrong with the smell of Citrus for something clean, and this is a versatile option for all the above options.

Teeth: We start this suggestion with a caveat and the admission that Dr. Bronner’s does sell a dedicated toothpaste, which is a more traditional toothbrushing experience, but if you’re down to save space and try something a little different, brushing with a bar soap is a great place to start! The Dr. Bronner’s pure-Castile Bar Soap is made with certified fair-trade ingredients and organic hemp oil so perfectly safe if ingested (and vegan!). Simply swipe your toothbrush on bar and brush as you would usually. The texture might take some getting used to, and it will taste a little soapy, but with natural oils such as coconut and sunflower, it will clean teeth efficiently!

Suggested Scent – Peppermint is the perfect option for a minty fresh feel in the mouth. We source the finest fair-trade Peppermint from India, with a peppermint burst so pure it tingles!

Luggage Freshener: When travelling, it’s safe to say that things can get a little smelly, so a powerfully scented soap bar is a built-in scent booster for that section of the suitcase that hold all the dirty clothes, it can even cover up the smell of old socks! Even wrapped, the bar soap emits a gorgeous strong scent. You can even scent a larger space such as a room, simply break off and grate a little bit of the soap and dilute into warm water for a diffuser effect.

Suggested Scent – When travelling, different environments can also make falling asleep harder, so a powerful Lavender smell can make for an ideal solution. Alternatively, Eucalyptus has a more medicinal scent for dirty clothes, and can also clear congestion and blocked sinuses from travelling.
